Hello performers, how are you all? I am super excited to be writing this month’s blog about our ‘Mini Oscars’ event. Something that the team have been looking forward to for a long time.
When Miss Ciara first told me about the plans for a Mini Oscars awards evening, I was beyond excited. I was looking forward to seeing all the children collect their awards, having a chance to talk to our performer’s parents about how incredible their children are in classes, and of course to be dressing up with the rest of the team!
In terms of planning the event, we held a team meeting where Miss Ciara ran us through the schedule for the evening. Each team member had a role to play, to ensure it ran smoothly and efficiently.
All of you were expected at the theatre at 6pm but for us Tutors, the day began at 3pm! We set up The Dukes with decorations, preparing our red carpet, the backdrop, name badges, and preparing the student’s certificates and trophies ready to be presented. We had a tech run to ensure we knew when to play the music tracks, change power point slides and to ensure that Miss Ciara and Miss Amy were lit up when presenting certificates and trophies on stage. The time went so quickly as there was so much to do! we wanted it to be perfect for our TPS attendees!
Everyone was welcomed by Miss Ciara and Miss Amy, making sure they were signed in and feeling ready for the evening. Miss Sadbh was on the red carpet taking pictures which can be found over on our Facebook Page. Our tutor Miss Millie was handing out our TPS x The Dukes reusable gift cards, don’t forget to use them at The Dukes bar for 10% off whenever you visit (These are strictly for TPS families only)! Miss Eleanor was focusing on social media – make sure to check our new videos on our pages if you haven’t already! For us tutors, this was the perfect time to speak to parents about how well their children have been doing, and to discuss our future plans in the performing arts for the students!
At 6pm, the time had come for parents to take their seats. They were greeted with our new official website launch. The entire team has been so excited for it to launch! We believe our new website truly represents what The Performance Studios is all about; a safe, creative, and nurturing environment for all our students to develop lifelong skills.
During the ceremony, we invited each of our classes up to the stage one by one, to celebrate their achievements. Certificates were presented by Miss Ciara and each child congratulated individually. They were then able to have a class photo together to praise them on their successes for the year.
We then had a very special performance from someone who is an inspiration to the students, Miss Amy, our deputy manager and singing tutor, sang I have a Dream from Mamma Mia The Musical & Never Enough from The Greatest Showman The Musical. She was truly incredible and has a beautiful voice. Her performance was followed by a short interval meaning we were able to continue taking pictures on the red carpet, and for tutors to continue speaking to parents if they hadn’t already.
Then it was time for our Mini Oscars, to whom we congratulated:
- Ray of Sunshine Award – Poppy Bond
- You’ve Got the Moves Award – Elysia Barlow
- Star of the Screen Award – Alicia Karz
- The Cheerleader Award – Sophie Boyd
- Pitch Perfect Award – Starr Brearley
- Standing Ovation Award – Jack Hudson
- The Director Award – Elsie Benville
- Performance Ready Award – Jack Goulds
- The Newcomer Award – Lexi Bury
- Confidence Award – Ysobella Fleming
We are so proud of every single student at TPS as they improve weekly in confidence.
After announcing our Mini Oscars winners, we made a few announcements before ending the night, hinting our August show 2023. Announcing to the audience titled Take Two: Dare to Dream! We followed this by a sing along to A Million Dreams, sang by Miss Amy. We also announced our Talent Show, which will be in June. Tickets are available for purchase here, as of now!
It was a wonderful evening, and we look forward to seeing you there next year to support our students!
It was lovely writing to you all,
Until next time…
The TPS Team <3
